These two systems are entirely dependent on each other. Get one wrong and the other fails. And when that happens, the production floor pays the price.

Why Humidity Is Non-Negotiable in Textile Production ?

Textile fibers — whether cotton, polyester, or blended — are hygroscopic. They constantly exchange moisture with the surrounding air. When relative humidity drops below the optimal range (usually 50–70%), the effects show up fast.

Static electricity is the first sign. The dry air allows static to build up as fibers move at speed through machine components. The yarn clings to metal surfaces, tangles, and breaks or the yarn breaks themselves — dry fibers lose elasticity and snap under the tension of spinning and weaving. Every snap is machine downtime. Multiply that across a 500-machine shed and the production loss adds up quickly.

There's also the weight factor. Textiles are sold by weight. Dry air pulls moisture out of the raw material continuously. Mills that let their humidity slip are effectively selling lighter fabric — and absorbing the loss quietly.

Finally, airborne lint. Dry fiber sheds dust and micro-fibers that float through the production environment. Proper humidity weighs these particles down and keeps the air cleaner for workers.

So the humidification plant is not a comfort system. It is a production system.

The Problem Nobody Talks About

Humidification plants rely on high-pressure atomising nozzles and air washers to put moisture back into the air. These nozzles push water through extremely fine openings to create a mist. The water they use is recirculated — pulled from the plant's own system and pushed back through the nozzles in a continuous loop.

Here is the problem: that recirculated water carries everything the production floor generates. Lint. Micro-fibers. Mineral deposits. Organic matter. Over time, this debris builds up and chokes the nozzles. When nozzles choke, humidity drops. When humidity drops, yarn breaks and quality suffers.

The traditional response is manual cleaning. Shut down the loop, drain the sumps, clear the nozzles, restart. This happens repeatedly — sometimes every two to three days in high-lint environments. Every shutdown is a humidity shock to the production floor.

What Changes With Automatic Disc Filtration ?

The Automat Aqua Automatic Disc Filter removes this problem at the source. The recycled water enter the filter and passes through a stack of grooved polymer discs compressed together. The grooves trap suspended particles — lint, fibers, mineral matter. Only clean water passes through to the nozzles.

As debris accumulates on the disc stack, the pressure differential across the filter rises. When it reaches a set threshold, the controller triggers an automated backwash cycle. Internal spray jets blast the discs clean and flush debris out through a drain valve and does not interrupt water supply to the plant.

Automat recently commissioned two sets of Automatic Aqua Disc Filters — rated at 140 m³/hr combined capacity — at Jayalakshmi Textile Pvt. Ltd., near Madurai, for their humidification plant. The system is performing well and meeting all operational requirements.

This was not a first installation for the group. It was the fourth successful project across the Jayalakshmi and Dhivya Lakshmi Mills Group. The consistent results across all four facilities are what led the group to commission this latest installation — and what is now driving discussions for two additional filter sets at 210 m³/hr capacity for another plant in the group.
